(1) In the case of a
conjoint election, every person appointed as a presiding officer, an assistant
presiding officer, a poll clerk or a doorkeeper for any polling place in a
district shall, without any further appointment or authority than this
subsection, be the presiding officer, the assistant presiding officer, poll
clerk or doorkeeper, as the case may be, for that polling place in respect of
the general election for the Council.
(2) The Electoral
Commissioner may give such directions as he may consider necessary or
expedient to implement the provisions of this Act, for the proper and
efficient conduct of any election.
(3) Without limiting
the generality of subsection (2), the Electoral Commissioner may, for the
purpose of assisting an elector on request as provided by section 129, give
such directions as he may consider necessary or expedient on and in relation
to methods of —
(a)
conveying details on the ballot paper to the elector without conveying
political information other than names or words printed in accordance with
section 113C; and
(b)
translating the voter’s instructions; and
(c)
eliciting the exact direction of the voter’s preferences.
