(1) If a party to the
proceedings is aware that the child, or another child who is a member of the
child’s family, is under the care (however described) of a person under
a child welfare law, that party must inform the court of the matter.
(2) If a person who is
not a party to the proceedings is aware that the child, or another child who
is a member of the child’s family, is under the care (however described)
of a person under a child welfare law, that person may inform the court of the
matter.
(3) Failure to inform
the court of the matter does not affect the validity of any order made by the
court.
(4) However,
subsection (3) does not limit the operation of section 202.
