(1) Where under this
Act a notice is required to be given to a person in respect of whom an
application has been made or to a represented person, that notice shall be
given personally to that person in accordance with this section.
(2) The contents of
any notice referred to in subsection (1) shall, at the time when the notice is
given to the person, be explained to him by the person who gives the notice or
some other person and, as far as is practicable, in the language, mode of
communication and in terms which the recipient is most likely to understand.
(3) An explanation
given under subsection (2) shall, so far as is practicable, be given both
orally and in writing.
(4) Subject to this
section, section 76 of the Interpretation Act 1984 applies to the giving of a
notice under this Act.
