(1) If any interest in
land is required for a public work, the acquiring authority may, whether or
not a notice of intention has been registered —
(a)
enter into an agreement to purchase the interest; or
(b)
obtain the written consent of the person to the taking of the interest, with
compensation to be provided under Part 10.
(2) On commencing
negotiations with any person for such an agreement, the acquiring authority
must advise the person, by means of a statement in an approved form, of
procedures under this Part and Part 10 for the taking of land, payment of
purchase money or compensation for land taken, rights of appeal or review and
rights as to the future disposition of interests in land taken by agreement or
compulsorily taken.
