(1) A court may make
or vary a restraining order even though the respondent has been charged with,
or convicted of, an offence arising out of the same conduct as that out of
which the application for the order arose.
(2) The making or
varying of a restraining order does not, except as provided by this Act,
affect the civil or criminal liability of a person bound by the order in
respect of the same conduct as that out of which the application for the order
arose.
