*********************************************************************** NEWS FROM AUSTLII http://www.austlii.edu.au/ Monday 17 November 1997 *********************************************************************** CONTENTS: Introduction Australian Web Awards Employment Opportunities AustLII's World Index Austrac Database Project Dial ----------------------------------------- INTRODUCTION It's been a while since the last 'News from AustLII' but here are the updates on what has been happening. ----------------------------------------- AUSTRALIAN WEB AWARDS http://www.webawards.info.au/ We would like to thank AustLII users for their support. AustLII was ranked 3rd in the Most Popular Web Site category of the Australian Internet Awards. ----------------------------------------- EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AT AUSTLII http://www2.austlii.edu.au/~graham/employment.html/ There are four positions being advertised at AustLII. Further information on the areas of responsibility and the qualifications required by prospective candidates can be found in the employment advertisement. ------------------------------------------- AUSTLII'S WORLD INDEX http://www.austlii.edu.au/links/World/ Our World index of legal resources has been growing a lot lately and, while it still has a long way to go, now contains links to legislation, case law and Parliaments in dozens of countries. It is also searchable. ----------------------------------------- AUSTRAC DATABASE http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/orgs/austrac/ The Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC) database contains the Guidelines and Information Circulars of the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC). Such material is provided so that cash dealers and the general public can easily access up to date materials on the Financial Transaction Reports Act 1988 (FTR) and the relevant functions of AUSTRAC. ---------------------------------------- PROJECT DIAL - WORLD-WIDE LEGISLATIVE RESOURCES http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/special/dial/ Project DIAL is a prototype that has been developed for the Asian Development Bank, with the aim of providing better access to legislation-related materials world-wide. The main target audience is legislative draftspeople and law reformers in the developing member countries of the Bank, but the DIAL Index and DIAL Search facilities are available for use by all AustLII users. DIAL Search may be of particular interest, as it allows you to do full text SINO searches over the legislation of many countries, using AustLII's new 'targeted web spider' technology. ------------------------------------------- Please feel free to distribute 'News from AustLII' either electronically or in print form.
