A Bill for

An Act to authorise the use of the term State Senate as a reference to the Legislative
Council and to authorise the use of the term State Senator as a reference to a Member
of the Legislative Council.
Clause 1          State Senate Bill 2010




The Legislature of New South Wales enacts:                                                  1

 1    Name of Act                                                                           2

               This Act is the State Senate Act 2010.                                       3

 2    Commencement                                                                          4

               This Act commences on the date of assent to this Act.                        5

 3    The State Senate and Senators                                                         6

         (1)   The Legislative Council may also be called the State Senate, and the use     7
               of that name has the same effect for all purposes as the use of its other    8
               name.                                                                        9

         (2)   Accordingly, a Member of the Legislative Council may also be called a       10
               State Senator.                                                              11
