(1) A motor vehicle or
trailer must bear a vehicle identification plate for that motor vehicle or
trailer.
(2)
Subsection (1) does not apply to a motor vehicle or trailer if the
Australian Design Rules applicable to the vehicle or trailer at the time of
its manufacture did not require it to bear a vehicle identification plate.
