ANIMAL WELFARE (TRANSPORT OF LIVESTOCK) REGULATIONS 2025 (S.R. 2025, NO. 35) - REG 13

Impact of extreme weather conditions
(1)  A person who has care or charge of livestock being transported must take appropriate action to manage any welfare risks associated with extremes of weather during all stages of transport.
Penalty:  In the case of –
(a) a body corporate, a fine not exceeding 100 penalty units; and
(b) an individual, a fine not exceeding 50 penalty units.
(2)  If a horse is observed to be suffering from heat stress, the person who has care or charge of the horse must take reasonable corrective action at the first reasonable opportunity after the heat stress is observed.
Penalty:  In the case of –
(a) a body corporate, a fine not exceeding 100 penalty units; and
(b) an individual, a fine not exceeding 50 penalty units.
