ANIMAL WELFARE ACT 1992 - SECT 12

Administering poison

    (1)     A person commits an offence if the person administers poison to a domestic or native animal.

Maximum penalty: 100 penalty units, imprisonment for 1 year or both.

    (2)     This section does not apply if—

        (a)     the person has a reasonable excuse; or

        (b)     the administration of the poison to the animal is permitted under a territory law.
