QANTAS SALE ACT 1992 No. 196, 1992 - SECT 29

Saving-DFRDB Act
29.(1) If, immediately before a terminating event, an employee of Qantas or a
Qantas subsidiary was a person to whom deferred benefits were applicable under
section 78 of the DFRDB Act, then, despite the terminating event and subject
to Division 3 of Part IX of that Act, the employee continues to be a person to
whom those deferred benefits are applicable while the employee continues to be
employed by Qantas or a Qantas subsidiary.

(2) For the purposes of subsection (1), a terminating event occurs if
employment by Qantas or a Qantas subsidiary ceases to be public employment for
the purposes of Division 3 of Part IX of the DFRDB Act.

(3) If, immediately before a terminating event, a period of employment of a
person by Qantas or a Qantas subsidiary was a period of eligible employment
for the purposes of Division 3 of Part IX of the DFRDB Act, then, despite the
terminating event, that period continues to be a period of eligible employment
for the purposes of Division 3 of Part IX of that Act.

(4) For the purposes of subsection (3), a terminating event occurs if
employment by Qantas or a Qantas subsidiary ceases to be eligible employment
for the purposes of Division 3 of Part IX of the DFRDB Act.

(5) In this section:

"DFRDB Act" means the Defence Force Retirement and Death Benefits Act 1973.
