An elector or other person (the
"witness" ) must not sign a declaration envelope as witness under section 119
(8) (a) unless—
(a) the witness is satisfied of the identity of the elector who signs the declaration before the witness; and
(b) the witness has seen the elector sign the declaration; and
(c) either—(i) the witness knows that the declaration made by the elector on the envelope is true; or(ii) the witness is satisfied, on the basis of inquiries of the elector or otherwise, that the declaration is true.
Penalty—Maximum penalty—20 penalty units or 6 months imprisonment.
