SUMMARY OFFENCES ACT 1953 - SECT 10

10—Offence to consume etc dogs or cats

        (1)         A person who knowingly—

            (a)         kills or otherwise processes a dog or cat for the purpose of human consumption; or

            (b)         supplies to another person a dog or cat (whether alive or not), or meat from a dog or cat, for the purpose of human consumption; or

            (c)         consumes meat from a dog or cat,

is guilty of an offence.

Maximum penalty: $1 250.

        (2)         In this section—

"cat" means an animal of the species Felis catus ;

"dog" means an animal of the species Canis familiaris ;

"meat" means the whole or part of a killed animal.
