(1) A person may apply to the Supreme Court to be admitted to the legal profession.(2) The applicant must provide a copy of the application to the Board, the Law Society and any other relevant professional association in accordance with the admission rules.(3) On receipt of an application under subsection (1) , the Supreme Court may refer the application to the Board of Legal Education and request the Board of Legal Education to (a) provide a recommendation on the person's eligibility for admission; or(b) report on any matter relevant to the person's eligibility for admission.(4) The Board of Legal Education is to provide its recommendation to the Supreme Court within 30 days of the receipt of the request under subsection (3) unless the applicant is an overseas applicant.(5) In determining the eligibility of a person for admission, the Supreme Court may rely on the recommendation of the Board of Legal Education.(6) The Supreme Court may admit a person as a lawyer if satisfied that the person (a) is eligible for admission; and(b) is a fit and proper person to be admitted; and(c) has complied with the provisions of this Part.
