QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENCE OR REGISTRATION

PART 1—QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED IN RESPECT OF CLASSES OF PLUMBING WORK

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8	Drainage work Fire protection work Gasfitting work Irrigation (non-agricultural) work Mechanical services work Roofing (stormwater) work Sanitary work Water supply work	The following qualifications are required— (a)     successful completion of a Certificate III course relating to plumbing work (except in the case of drainage work or irrigation (non-agricultural) work where a Certificate II course is sufficient) that includes the approved competency units for that class of plumbing work; and	Successful completion of the Commission's examination of licence competencies for that class of plumbing work. Note Section 221M(1)(a) of the Act requires a person to be eligible for registration with respect to a class of plumbing work in order to be licensed to carry out that class of plumbing work.

		(b)     successful completion of the Commission's examination of competencies for that class of plumbing work. Either of the following types of experience are required— (a)     completion of an apprenticeship under the supervision of a plumber qualified to carry out work of that class of plumbing work; or (b)     employment for 4 years in that class of plumbing work except in the case of Drainage work or Irrigation (Non-agricultural) work where 2 years is sufficient.

PART 2—QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED IN RESPECT OF CLASSES OF SPECIALISED PLUMBING WORK

1	Backflow prevention work	The following qualifications are required— (a)     the holding of a registration to carry out water supply work; and (b)     successful completion of the Commission's examination of competencies for backflow prevention work.	The following qualifications are required— (a)     the holding of a licence to carry out water supply work; and (b)     successful completion of the Commission's examination of competencies for backflow prevention work.
2	Refrigerated air-con-ditioning work	The following qualifications are required— (a)     the holding of a registration to carry out mechanical services work; and (b)     the holding of a disconnect/reconnect licence; and (c)     either of the following— (i)         successful completion of a Certificate III course that includes the approved competency units for refrigerated air-conditioning work; or (ii)     successful completion of the Commission's examination of competencies for refrigerated air-conditioning work. Either of the following types of experience are required— (a)     completion of a refrigeration apprenticeship; or (b)     employment for 4 years in refrigerated air-conditioning work.	The following qualifications are required— (a)     the holding of a licence to carry out mechanical services work; and (b)     the holding of a disconnect/reconnect licence; and (c)     either of the following— (i)         successful completion of a Certificate III course that includes the approved competency units for refrigerated air-conditioning work; or (ii)     successful completion of the Commission's examination of competencies for refrigerated air-conditioning work. Either of the following types of experience are required— (a)     completion of a refrigeration apprenticeship; or (b)     employment for 4 years in refrigerated air-conditioning work.

3	Type A appliance conversion work	The following qualifications are required— (a)     the holding of a registration to carry out gasfitting work; and (b)     successful completion of the Commission's examination of competencies for type A appliance conversion work.	The following qualifications are required— (a)     the holding of a licence to carry out gasfitting work; and (b)     successful completion of the Commission's examination of competencies for type A appliance conversion work.
4	Type A appliance servicing work	The following qualifications are required— (a)     the holding of a registration to carry out gasfitting work; and (b)     successful completion of the Commission's examination of competencies for type A appliance servicing work.	The following qualifications are required— (a)     the holding of a licence to carry out gasfitting work; and (b)     successful completion of the Commission's examination of competencies for type A appliance servicing work.

5	Type B gasfitting work	The following qualifications are required— (a)     the holding of a registration to carry out gasfitting work; and (b)     the holding of a disconnect/reconnect licence; and (c)     successful completion of the Commission's examination of competencies for type B gasfitting work. The experience required is employment for 2 years in type B gasfitting work.	The following qualifications are required— (a)     the holding of a licence to carry out gasfitting work; and (b)     the holding of registration to carry out type B gasfitting work; and (c)     the holding of a disconnect/reconnect licence; and (d)     successful completion of the Commission's examination of competencies for type B gasfitting work.
6	Type B gasfitting advanced work	The following qualifications are required— (a)     the holding of a registration to carry out type B gasfitting work; and (b)     successful completion of the Commission's examination of competencies for type B gasfitting advanced work.	The following qualifications are required— (a)     the holding of a licence to carry out type B gasfitting work; and (b)     successful completion of the Commission's examination of licence competencies for type B gasfitting advanced work.
