37. Person previously not required to have a certificate of competency may
work for 12 months without a certificate



A person who, before the commencement of these Regulations, was-

   (a)  operating a boom-type elevating work platform; or

   (b)  exempted from the requirement to hold a certificate of competency
        under the Lifts and Cranes (Certification of Operators) (Exemption)
        Regulations 1992-

may continue to perform the work without a certificate of competency but-

   (c)  only for a period of 12 months from the day these Regulations came
        into operation; and

   (d)  in the case of an exemption, only for so long as the terms (if any) of
        that exemption continue to be complied with.
